Equal Education post-school youth members: Statement of solidarity with the #JoziToStellenbosch movement
9 July 2020
Today marks the twenty fourth day since the #JoziToStellenbosch Comrades embarked on the revolutionary walk from Jozi to Stellenbosch.
It is sad that after more than two decades into democracy, our country still experiences gross racial inequalities. The Black marginalised are still subjected to white-supremacist ambitions: with no land, no proper houses, no safety, no voice and without economic liberation.
We salute you #JoziToStellenbosch movement Comrades for taking on this tremendous and selfless act of sacrificing your safety and health in aid of this struggle.
Equal Education, at its third National Congress, resolved to demonstrate solidarity with the struggles of the Black working class. We vowed to be in solidarity with all struggles of inequities faced by Black people and the #JoziToStellenbosch movements speaks directly to this.
We are in solidarity with you Comrades: we have your backs, we support the cause of true liberation. We are together Comrades; to protect ourselves against repression we take a trowel in our right hand and a shield and sword in our left, to contribute to the amazing task of rebuilding Afrika. We are here to say our nation and the whole continent of Afrika must be free and it shall be free.
We recognise the full worth of this action to free South Africa and its people. We choose now, tomorrow may be too late.
Our politics are clear on non-violent radicalism. We radically believe that it is time that we reimagine a new liberated South Africa and continent.
