“Only eight percent of South African schools have libraries.”
Juta & Company have donated R700 00.00 worth of books to Equal Education’s Bookery. These books, however, still need a bit of love to make them ready for library shelves. Between Monday April 23rd and Thursday the 26th, from 09.30am to 16.30pm daily, the forecourt of the Sunclare Building, in front of the Juta Bookshop in Dreyer Street, Claremont will be transformed into a mini-production line, with volunteers making books library-ready for handover to The Bookery. It will then distribute them to schools, libraries and communities around the Western Cape which have been identified as needing them most.
Friends of Equal Education and The Bookery are invited to join in and help prepare the books. Members of the public can get involved by bringing or buying a book / books and donating them; or by spending an hour on-site making donations library-ready by sorting, covering and labelling the books.
