Position Summary

Founded in 2008, Equal Education (EE) is a community and membership-based organisation, advocating for quality and equality in the South African education system. We are a movement of learners, parents and teachers that undertakes strategic actions informed by rigorous research and analysis, to remedy systemic and localised problems that impede quality teaching and learning.

We make recommendations to the legislative and executive branches of government on how existing education policy and law may be improved. In order to do so, and to critique interventions and anticipate policy shifts in the basic education sector, we seek to produce new knowledge.

EE is thus excited to announce a partnership with the Cameron Schrier Foundation, for postgraduate research fellowships at EE for a period of one year. In 2017, we extend this opportunity to two exceptional individuals, to undertake research into two critical areas of concern: the privatisation of schools, and South Africa’s teacher post-provisioning model.

Preference will be given to candidates who are black South African women.
