About The Youth Empowerment and Transformation Organisation (YETT)
The Youth Empowerment and Transformation Organisation (YETT) is a youth networking organisation committed to the full participation of young people in sustainable development through advocacy, partnerships, and capacity
strengthening of youth and youth organisations in Zimbabwe and across the Southern Africa region. We are based in Harare, Zimbabwe.

In existence since 2004, YETT implements direct programming working alongside its network of partners, over 70
youth-led, serving and focused organisations operating in all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe and over 20 partners
regionally and globally, to empower youth.
Guided by our 2025–2030 strategy, YETT’s work is anchored in four strategic pillars:
1. Influencing Policy: Supporting youth participation in governance, democratic processes, and policymaking at
national and regional levels.
2. Building Resilience: Equipping youth to address poverty, climate change, humanitarian shocks, and mental
health challenges through community-based solutions.
3. Developing Leaders: Mentoring and equipping youth, especially young women, to lead across all sectors and
champion gender justice and civic accountability.
4. Capacitating Youth Actors: Strengthening youth-led and youth-serving civil society organisations and building
youth-responsive governance systems.
THE EXCHANGE:
This opportunity is part of the 2026 regional exchange between The Youth Empowerment and Transformation
Organisation (YETT) in Zimbabwe, the Zambian National Education Coalition (ZANEC) in Zambia and Equal Education (EE) in
South Africa, supported by the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (Norec).
The exchange will last for a period of 15 months (February 2026- April 2027), with 1 month of preparatory work with EE in
South Africa, 12 months abroad with YETT in Harare, Zimbabwe, followed by 2 months follow-up work with your ‘sending’
organisation; EE in South Africa.
Through international exchange, the overall objective is to empower young people to have the agency and means to
meaningfully participate in the pursuit of access to quality and inclusive education for all.
YETT will cover the following expenses :
Housing costs, including gas, electricity, water, etc.
1. Travel insurance and health insurance for the whole exchange, including during the training period.
2. Monthly stipend/salary.
3. Travel costs to and from your home country, and to and from the mandatory Norec Preparatory and Homecoming
trainings
4. Departure/start-up funds that may cover passport fees, visas, necessary vaccinations, work permits, etc.

Communications Officer
PURPOSE:
The Communications Officer, based within the Programs Department and working closely with the Research, Advocacy,
and Knowledge team, strengthens YETT’s internal and external communications, knowledge management, and visibility.
The role supports creative advocacy and storytelling, contributes to fundraising and partner engagement, and builds the
communications capacity of YETT’s network and member organisations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Design and implement communication and advocacy campaigns, particularly on inclusion and access in higher
education.
2) Coordinate capacity-building workshops and mentorship for network partners on communications, storytelling, and
creative advocacy.
3) Produce and edit high-quality communication products; press releases, articles, social media content, radio scripts,
newsletters, podcasts, and multimedia materials, ensuring brand consistency and alignment with YETT’s values.
4) Lead documentation of program outcomes and success stories, highlighting impact and lessons learned for use in
donor reports and external publications.
5) Oversee photography, videography, and digital archiving of program activities to strengthen YETT’s knowledge
management and institutional memory.
6) Manage content planning and scheduling across YETT’s communication channels, including website updates, social
media, and newsletters.
7) Collaborate with the Research, Advocacy, and Knowledge team to translate data and evidence into accessible formats
for advocacy, resource mobilisation, and stakeholder engagement.
8) Support YETT’s participation and representation at events, ensuring effective visibility and messaging.
9) Contribute to organisational learning and sustainability by documenting promising practices and strengthening
internal governance and communication systems.
10) Provide cross-departmental communications support as required.
REQUIREMENTS
1) A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Media Studies, Communications, or a related discipline.
2) Proven experience (2+ years) in communications.
3) Social Media & Design Savvy.
4) Strong writing and editing experience.
5) Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
6) Familiarity with the non-profit or development sector is advantageous.
7) Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
8) Proficiency in English (both spoken and written); additional language skills are a plus.
9) Knowledge of the Southern African higher education system and policy is desired. Previous experience in a social movement, community-based organisation or youth organisation is desired.
10) Must be able to work efficiently and independently, and to manage multiple projects concurrently.
11) Applicants must be between the ages of 18-30 years old.
