Equal Education runs a Community Leadership Programme (formerly known as the Gap Year Programme) for a select number of Equalisers who have just completed high school. 'CLs', as they are known, are interned with the organisation for one year. The programme combines involvement in the day-to-day work of EE with intensive academic lessons that help prepare participants to re-write matric courses which they choose to. Participants who complete the programme go on to study a variety of tertiary courses, and are required to keep contributing to the work of the movement as leaders.
