Last Saturday (19 February), Equal Education's 2011 Community Leaders (CLs) were interviewed on RFI français, a French national radio station also broadcasted through out Francophone Africa. In a programme themed 'le bac de la second chance' or 'getting a second chance', to which forty million people listened, the CLs were asked about the Community Leadership Programme (formerly the Gap Year Programme) that they are currently enrolled in. They also spoke about the current crisis in South African education. Some of last year's CLs – the 'Gaps' – came on air five minutes after they had heard of their successful applications to university.

This Saturday on SAfm (104-107 fm) just after the news at noon, last year's CLs Nokubonga Ralayo and Asanda Mankayi will be interviewed on a radio show workshop that airs once a week. This week, the show's theme is about 'trying harder'. Nokubonga and Asanda will talk of their hopes and aspirations and about the Community Leadership Programme. Be sure to tune in!
