Covid-19 resources for Equalisers created by Equal Education’s Internal Education and Training Unit.

Mental Health – For most of us, the lockdown due to the pandemic has unearthed feelings of uncertainty, unrest, and anxiety. Routine is important as it helps us feel more in control of our current situation. We encourage our Equalisers to keep active and stay healthy by doing some simple and fun activities to exercise the body and stimulate the mind.

  • Write in a journal
  • Take up dancing
  • Do your house chores
  • Read a book
  • Check on your friends and family
  • If you have access to the internet, try an online exercise programme

Find yourself a positive coping mechanism.

Spread the word, not the virus.

Screening – If you have a fever, cold, or sore throat – don’t panic. Take care of yourself, continue practicing hygiene control and stay home.

Monitor your symptoms and seek medical care should your condition worsen. Remember to alert your teachers if you are at school and your parents if you are at home.

Personal Protection Equipment – Masks are effective when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand sanitiser or soap and water. If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly. Your school must ensure that you have one to protect yourself and other learners.
