On Thursday, 30 August 2012, Equal Education (EE) will launch FIX OUR SCHOOLS: AN EXHIBITION from 12h30-13h30 at the Central Methodist Mission Church in Cape Town. The exhibition will expose the state of South Africa’s education system and chronicle EE’s work.

The exhibition has been launched in the lead up to EE’s court case for Minimum Norms and Standards for School Infrastructure. Over 25 schools contributed vivid affidavits to bolster EE’s case. This exhibition opens a window on their reality, and the reality of the 3,600 schools without electricity, the 2,400 schools without water, and the 20,000 schools without libraries, computer centres or science laboratories.

The exhibition is interactive and allows for the public to add their name and face to EE’s campaign for Minimum Norms and Standards for School Infrastructure. The exhibition will tour the Western Cape and then South Africa. It will be hosted in schools, libraries and public spaces.

Professor Francis Wilson, professor of Economics at the University of Cape Town, will deliver the key note address.
