Today, Wednesday 7 March 2012, at 14h30 Equal Education will hold a press conferenceat 6 Spin Street in Cape Town. At the press conference EE will announce a court case that it has launched against a South African cabinet minister and nine provincial MECs.
The contents of the papers and the relief sought by EE will be announced at the press conference. This is the most far-reaching court case about the right to basic education to have been launched in democratic South Africa.
Representatives will be available to answer questions from the press. Individuals from across the country who have filed supporting affidavits in the case will also be present. These will include a school principal, a parent and a learner.
