“Building our democratic movement for education justice and equality”
Equal Education will be holding its National Congress from 4 – 8 July at the University of the Western Cape, Bellville. The congress will be convening under the theme “Building our democratic movement for education justice and equality”. The National Congress is held every 3 years and it is tasked with discussing EE’s policy positions, passing resolutions, and electing a National Council to lead the organisation for the next 3 years.
Equal Education members from all over the country will be represented by almost 400 delegates they nominated and voted for in meetings. These delegates will include learners, parents, teachers and staff members. Delegates will be arriving on Saturday (4 July) for registration and the opening night session is scheduled to start at 6pm.
The congress will also have a number of key speakers presenting. The opening night of congress will be open to guests and journalists and will be addressed by Zackie Achmat, EE Chair Yoliswa Dwane, Deputy Chair Buhle Booi and other speakers. The last day of congress will elect the National Council and adopt congress resolutions, the congress is set to conclude its business on the 7th of July.
