Education Transparency and Accountability Webpage
Background
Equal Education, Equal Education Law Centre, and the National Association of School Governing Bodies invite quotations to update and redesign an education transparency and accountability webpage.
The webpage should contain a repository of popular educational materials to support the monitoring of good governance in schools and access to further legal support via the Equal Education Law Centre’s law clinic, as well as an updated interactive dashboard that monitors the budgets and performance of education departments.

The webpage aims to improve public access to information on education funding, infrastructure, governance, transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption in South Africa’s basic education sector. It serves learners, parents, educators, activists, researchers, journalists, and policymakers.
The successful bidder will update the dashboard using the latest available data, improve its design and functionality, integrate educational content, and ensure that it can be embedded within our website(s) or alternatively be hosted on a dedicated site.
Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be expected to:
- Update Existing Dashboard
- Review the existing dashboard structure and datasets.
- Update all indicators and visualisations using the latest available data.
- Verify data accuracy and document data sources.
- Establish processes that facilitate future updates.
- Improve Design and User Experience
- Redesign the dashboard to improve usability, accessibility, and visual appeal.
- Ensure the platform reflects the branding and values of participating partner organisations.
- Optimise the dashboard for desktop and mobile use.
- Improve navigation and user interaction.
- Website Integration
- Develop a solution that can be embedded into our existing website(s) or hosted on a dedicated website.
- Ensure compatibility across devices and browsers.
- Optimise performance and loading times.
- Interactive Educational Content
The platform should include a dedicated repository of educational and know-your-rights materials that are useful for School Governing Bodies and learners to hold governance and management structures accountable.
Quotation Options
Bidders are requested to provide pricing for one or more of the following options:
Option A: Dashboard Upgrade and Redesign
This option should include:
- Dashboard update with the latest data
- Dashboard redesign and UX improvements
- Website integration
- Uploading of existing educational content
- Technical documentation and handover
Option B: Enhanced Dashboard Upgrade, Redesign, and Interactive Educational Materials
This option should include everything in Option A, plus:
- Redesigning educational materials in engaging and interactive formats, such as quizzes, infographics, maps, guided learning journeys, or other digital tools.
Requirements
Proposals should include:
- Brief company or individual profile
- Relevant experience and examples of similar work
- Proposed approach and methodology
- Project timeline
- Costs for selected bid options
- Contact details
Experience in data visualisation, dashboard development, web development, user experience design, and youth-focused public-interest or civil society projects will be advantageous.
Indicative budget:
The expected expenditure for this webpage is capped at R100,000 (inclusive of VAT). Where bidders submit proposals exceeding this amount, they should clearly motivate the additional costs and/or indicate any components of the scope that could be delivered as optional extras.
