Last weekend (21-23 January) EE focused on building the capacity of our youth groups by holding a Youth Department seminar at Bundi campsite on the Breede River, an hour’s drive from Cape Town. An energetic atmosphere filled the camp where new leaders, many of whom were once equalisers, met and began to bond with their new teams, define roles, and strategise how to tackle the challenges of 2011. There was a focus on readings by Vivienne Rich and Harold Pinter, and a camp-wide protect-your-eggs competition eventually won by Zintle Makoba’s youth group ‘The Flies’. Zintle leads Kraaifontein youth group. These grade-specific teams are the heart and soul of EE and we wish them strength for the year ahead.
