EE aims to be an environment where young people can safely come together; learning and strategising on how to tackle an unequal education system in the context of growing inequality in South Africa and the world more broadly.
In building a strong and safe movement, we encourage our staff and volunteers (facilitators), our members, and the public to feel comfortable in reporting misconduct by EE staff, facilitators, volunteers, members, or any affiliated person. Misconduct includes but is not limited to harassment, abuse, bullying, fraud, theft, and corruption. For more detail on the types of behaviour that constitutes misconduct when it is directed at learners/Equalisers please see EE’s Safeguarding Policy and Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Policy below.

You may make a report about an Equal Education staff member, a National Council member, a volunteer (facilitator) or an individual connected to EE.
All reports will be treated in confidence. Matters pertaining to staff will be dealt with in line with Equal Education’s Policies and Procedures manual and Safeguarding Policy. Whereas matters pertaining to EE members will be dealt with in line with the Constitution, Safeguarding Policy and processes set up by the National Council’s Disciplinary Committee.
Option 2: You may also report wrong doing inside EE through an external, anonymous channel called whistleblowing.co.za. This provides services in all official South African languages and multiple routes of reporting information.

After the report has been received from the service, matters will be investigated. Thereafter, matters pertaining to staff will be dealt with in line with Equal Education’s Policies and Procedures manual and Safeguarding Policy. Whereas matters pertaining to EE members will be dealt with in line with the Constitution, Safeguarding Policy and processes set up by the National Council’s Disciplinary Committee.
The service will serve as a link between the person who files the report and designated individuals at Equal Education. They may contact you to request further information for example or explain the steps necessary for Equal Education to take things forward maintaining your anonymity at all times.
